Flatwater

Saugeen River

Saugeen River
From Walkerton to SouthHampton -
Not really flatwater or White water canoe trip
It has with high water levels - 1 or 2 level I, II rapids which are very easy and short on day one
lots of ripples and fun stuff.
I have done the river every year once or more times with people from all ages (3-65) and all levels of experience.
It is a fun rural river to learn and explore on.

Our plan is to paddle ~15-20 km/5-6 hours a day. Participants should be prepared to perform one way portages across un-marked bushwhacking Canadian Shield terrain.

We explored a good section of the park last fall. Check it out. This is what you can expect on my outings.

Queen Elizabeth II Wildlands Prov. Park April 27 - May 3, 2013

Depend on who comes along this will be an easy paced trip to introduce the area to those who may want to explore the area. Will try and clean some of the portages between Fishog and Smudge lake middle route.
Will also try and find the nesting area of the Sand hill Cranes and see if we can find a feather for DNA for the bird people. It may be a sub-species of the Sandhill, and there fore rare.
Will try and introduce people to the great off trail hiking in the area.
As long as the black flies don't come for lunch.
The bugs can come out early here due to the incubation chamber the Shield creates for them.

Grand River

This very popular annual trip seems to be a great draw for all levels of paddlers, including families. Over the last seven years we have enjoyed perfect weather, portage free paddling, and a social barbeque that has followed our outing. This is a wonderful day to enjoy an easy moving river and to socialize with other WCA’ers. The trip will start in south Cambridge, where we will put in, and then paddle to Paris. We will pass through scenic farm country, negotiate some easy Class one water, and stop for lunch along the way. Those interested are welcome to join us back at our house in Cambridge for some food, beverage, and social time.
