6\7 day wilderness KAYAKING trip running the Kattawagami river AKA the lawagamau

The Kat is a northern river that runs into James Bay this river has about 80 sets of rapids or falls some can be run some are short portages BUT when you get to James bay the trip is not over it is 50K.m across the bay to the moose river then maybe a 4 hour paddle up the moose to the town of Mooseonee where you use the train to get back to Cochrane

Itinerary description: 

paddle the Kat AND get to the train station in Moosonee in time to get the 5 PM Thursday train July 11 with the Friday train as back up

Required Items to Bring: 

A Kayak, all camping gear you would need to go SOLO for a week in the wilderness
A spot device or Sat. photo to call for help if things go bad. cells do not work up here

Recommended Items to Bring: 

bug spray and bug head cover, bear spray

How to Get There
Event Directions: 

Drive to the train station in Cochrane we meet there then everyone drives another 160K. north east on HWY 652 to the put in leave all gear there and drive back to the train station leave cars in long term parking call a cab (yes a cab $300.00 split) ride back to put in
paddle down stream till you get to the ocean!
