Itinerary description

Friday, June 28th: Arrive & setup camp at Camp Petawachuan (see http://camppetawachuan.com/) on the French River . From the put-in to the camp is a few km paddle.

Costs are $30 per night per campsite, may get group discount if we get enough people. Other options are $70 a night for a 6 person tee-pee or $80 a night for a log cabin. There are toilets & showers at the site, and even a lodge.

Once settled, go on an evening paddle

Saturday, June 29th: Paddle to the pow-wow with some background given by Norman Dokis. While there will be vendors selling some food, was told it is sometimes limited so you should pack a lunch. For dinner there is a traditional feast with local game and food. (no charge) A short guided hike as well behind the Pow Wow grounds to explore medicinal/edible plants and cultural sites.

Sunday, June 30th: Paddle 10km to the 5 Finger rapids. (May not be able to canoe the rapid, but fun area to swim and play in. Later afternoon will have a nature walk with Norman Dokis discovering local traditional ecological knowledge and exploring local Survival Techniques.

Monday, July 1st: Depends on the water levels, will decide where to canoe and/or hike.
